Beit Hall is part of Imperial’s South Kensington campus, unlike most other residential halls. If you check the map of Imperial College and look at the northwest part, you will see a square area beside Royal Albert Hall. That is the Beit Quad. Residential part is at the east, south and west wing while the north wing belongs to the student union (has a nightclub, bar, offices and activity rooms).
Being part of the campus. You can actually say that the distance to university is zero. =D It takes you 3minutes to reach Sherfield Building, Physics, Maths, Computing, Aero and Chem Eng departments. 10 minutes to reach Imperial Main Entrance, Mech Eng and Chem Eng departments. Beit and Prince Gardens residents are the closest you can ever get to uni. 5 minutes door to door from library to your room so if you love camping in libraries, Beit is perfect for you.
Being part of the university, you will see plenty of students around. If your room is facing the inside of the quad, be prepared for noisy nights especially on Wednesday (sports night) and Friday (clubbing nights). Personally I find the volume bearable. Sometimes they play good music which you can sing along too ;). Security is high; we have guards patrolling frequently all the way into your corridors. There is only one entrance which is gated and guarded.
There are single standard, single ensuite, double standard and double ensuite rooms available. Price of double ensuite rooms are approximately 135pounds per week. Some rooms are really spacious while some are moderately sized. Prices will vary accordingly. Rooms are all fully furnished including room heating and hot shower. One wardrobe and two drawers will be provided. One of the drawers can be locked to store important items. Free cleaning is provided every fortnight.
Kitchen is shared between 6-10 people in your corridor. Kitchens are really spacious with a large private cabinet for your personal cutlery (can be locked). Fridge and freezer are shared; be prepared to share your milk and eggs ;D.
There are two large common rooms at ground floor for chilling. We have 2 TV’s, a piano, foosball, pingpong, pool table and your mailbox.
Personally, I really enjoy my room here. The distance to university is one of the best perks of an accommodation. I can actually wake up 40 minutes before class and still make it on time. Sharing a room here is pretty fine. Most roommates are considerate and friendly. You may experience the Western culture if your roommate is the party type. If you prefer a more docile environment, please do state it during your application. Beit is also very clean and just had a facelift a few years back.
