Pembridge is a small hall which accommodates up to 96 people only. There are unfortunately only two kitchens to share, but the kitchens are rarely full, and you can unleash your culinary skills for all the see/smell/taste. This gives Pembridge a slight community feel to it.
The rooms in Pembridge are by far the cheapest in Imperial, and, for that matter, London. A note of caution though, some “en-suite” rooms are not fully en-suite, i.e. only shower, no toilet. This should reflect on the prices of the rooms come accommodation booking time. Our rooms also have a very convenient fridge to keep essentials like milk, juice etc. No other hall (as I know) has this.
The walk to Imperial in the morning would be through the beautiful Kensington Gardens. With cute dogs, toddlers etc, it is a really nice 25-30 minute walk. After sunset, however, the park is closed and you would have to make a slight detour through Kensington Palace Gardens. This road houses embassies from around the world, so it is quite safe to walk at night.
Also, there’s free brunch on Sunday mornings! 😀
There are many grocery shops around Pembridge – Tesco, Waitrose, Marks and Spencers, Sainsbury. Tesco closes at 12 midnight on weekdays, so if you have a late night craving for ice cream, fear not! For Asian goodness, try the Oriental Supermarket which is a short 10 minutes on foot away (students get a 5% discount at the Oriental Supermarket)
All major banks have a branch near Pembridge too. Lloyds, HSBC, Barclays, Santander, RBS and a few more.
Craving Chinese food? Fret not, as Bayswater is just a short walk away, and you have a whole selection of Chinese restaurants (with discounts!! :D) to choose from.
If you’re feeling slightly lazy to cook, there are several fast food places all located within 5 minutes of Pembridge. McDonalds is next to Tesco, KFC and Subway are a little further down the road in the opposite direction. The 3rd best fish and chips you can find in London (according to some random google search), The Fish House of Notting Hill, is also in the street behind the hall. It’s a little pricier than fast food for sure but it’s goood (trust us!). If you’re craving Japanese food, there’s Itsu, which sells it’s sushi boxes for half price half an hour to closing time and Eat Tokyo, both within a 10 minute walk.
Portobello Market is also one of the main things to see in London. Located just behind Pembridge, it is definitely a place to check out!
